The Cocktail Effect of Chemical Pollutants

What is new in the study published by German and Danish researchers in EMBO Reports, is that it shows an alteration of the function of mouse sperm in adulthood, when cultured in vitro with products of our daily environment, such as shampoo, deodorant or toothpaste.

These products have resulted in disturbance in the flow of calcium through ion channels in sperm, gold, it is very important to their mobility: it is essential to help them reach the oocyte and activation required for their so that they can penetrate through the envelopes of the egg.

It was, moreover, observed that the combination thereof could be not only additive but synergistic, resulting in amplification of the impacts. This is what is called “cocktail effect” of a mixture of chemical pollutants, is equivalent to “real life”.
